ISAF Joint Command morning operational update

KABUL, Afghanistan (Oct. 31) - An Afghan and coalition security force killed Taliban leader Sajid during a security operation in Helmand province Tuesday.

Sajid, also known as Abdul Hakim, was in charge of an improvised explosive device cell operating in the province and was believed responsible for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces based in the area.

In other International Security Assistance Force news throughout Afghanistan:

Afghan Provincial Response Company Ghazni, enabled by coalition forces, seized a large cache of homemade explosives during a search operation in Ghazni province yesterday.  Following the operation the Afghan and coalition force destroyed the cache, which contained 300 kilograms (660 pounds) of potassium chlorate - a known explosive - along with detonation cords and initiators.

An Afghan and ISAF partnered force discovered and seized six victim-operated IEDs with power sources in a compound during a dismounted patrol in Kandahar province yesterday. The IEDs were successfully dismantled by the combined force.
